  • Details
Made in the USA from 1974-1976, this Goldentone Iridescent patterns was made by Indiana Glass Company, (Dunkirk, Indiana) as part of their Contemporary Carnival Production models. This was their attempt to bring back their very popular earlier Carnival Glass models of the 1920's and 1930's.
This Carnival Reproduction was made in Indiana's "King Crown" pattern that was manufactured from 1959-1979.

When East Central Indiana experienced the Indiana gas boom. The company started in 1907, when a group of investors led by Frank W. Merry formed a company to buy the Dunkirk glass plant that belonged to the bankrupt National Glass Company. National Glass was a trust for glass tableware that originally owned 19 glass factories including the plant in Dunkirk. National Glass went bankrupt in 1907, and its assets were sold in late 1908.
Indiana produced a wide range of Carnival shapes and patterns which, although no trademark is present, can usually be distinguished by the company's distinctive colors and iridescent style of glass. Indiana originally made these dishes circa 1920's-1930's in green and pink (non-iridised) glass; they were re-used in the 1970's molds in the revival of Indiana's Contemporary Carnival production.
After several merges (mainly E.O. Brody Floral Vases) and buyouts, Indiana Glass's name was a memory as of November 2002 the Dunkirk, IN plant closed and as of 2007 what was the last of Indiana Glass Co. was rolled into Anchor Hocking Glass, Georgia USA.
