1982-1988 Gorham Crystal Candy Bowl

Gorham Althea Cut Lead Crystal made in West Germany from 1982-1988. Germany's focus when manufacturing anything has always been on on testing, innovation, and quality and this crystal is proof of that. This is a thick wall, heavy based "candy dish" or "jelly bean dish".
Gorham had different patterns cut into their lead crystal products, Gorham named this pattern the Althea Cut.

I actually recall as a boy seeing Gorham Crystal displays in department store showcases in the 80's.
This candy bowl also came sold with a lid as a candy dish. My dad use to have one of these exact bowls for a pecan shell catch and my 6th Grade teacher use to have one full of jelly beans on her desk.
These normally came with a ornate colored sticker that said GORHAM LEAD CRYSTAL WEST GERMANY.
This is genuine lead crystal....did you know that one of the best ways to identify lead crystal is to shine a black light on it? Due to the lead content, crystal will have a blue or purple tint to it, whereas glass just looks a dull green color under black light. I have a photo included demonstrating that this is Lead Crystal.

Historical fun fact:
In 1973, prior to the reunification, the Federal Court of Justice of Germany ruled that “Made in Germany” did not adequately distinguish between the two Germanys of the time. After the High Court's decision “Made in West Germany” came into popular use. Then in 1989 the wall came down so by 1990 (unification of two Germanys) the High Court's decision on the matter was irrelevant. Items with those stamping date separations only lasted roughly 1973-1990.
