    The Brockway Machine Bottle Co. began production on October 14, 1907, in Brockway, PA. The company made Vaseline jars as its initial product. In 1933, Brockway Machine Bottle Co. became Brockway Glass Co. , in Brockway, PA. Brockway manufactured and sold glass containers and tubing along with plastic products manufactured through wholly owned subsidiaries. In 1964-1972, Brockway added six plants from Hazel Atlas and the tableware division of Continental Can Co. as part of a lawsuit settlement. Brockway decided to close tableware operations in April 1979 and sold it to the Anchor Hocking Corp. in May.
    The company changed its name to Brockway, Inc. on April 28, 1982, and even merged with Owens-Illinois. In 1985, the combined plants used 134 machines, making “applicator bottles, household chemical, cosmetics, drug, perfume, baby food, one-way &
    returnable beer, one-way & returnable beverage, coffee, food, juice, liquor, ice buckets, packers ware,
    preserve jars, wine special shapes: oblong, oval, private molds. In 1987, Owens-Illinois made a bid of $60 per share (worth $750 million) to acquire Brockway, which was met with resistance by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). After a Federal District Judge denied the FTC's request for an injunction, Owens-Illinois acquired Brockway's shares. In 1988, renaming the combined giant Owens-Brockway.
