RARE FIND! Boot Jacks were utilitarian objects used to aid in removing cowboy boots. One of the most popular boot Jacks was the“Naughty Nellie.” Originating in the 1850's, it was considered quite risque. The way this object was used reveals much about the attitudes toward women at the time. To remove a boot, you stood behind Nellie and stepped on her bust or head to hold the Boot Jack firmly on the ground. Then you wedged your other foot in the V-shaped space between Nellie’s legs and yanked. This Boot Jack called a "Naughty Nellie" was made to look like a caricature of an African-American woman with her legs open. This risque tool was used to grasp the heel of a boot to aid in its removal. Weighs 2 lbs Measures 9.5" X 4.75" X 4.75 Someone painted this "Naughty Nellie" somewhere in her travels. They did an AMAZING paint job with very nice colors. They made "Naughty Nellie" a blonde.
