These lamps have become highly collectible since they hit the showroom floors in the mid 1990's. Tin Chi accent lamps boasted over 30 different animals, insect, fish, reptile, etc. I remember several friends and acquaintances having a Tin Chi in their dorm room or homes. The designs were "unique" and served as an amazing ambient of lighting to set the mood or for low light reading. The Tin Chi lamps were designed and made in Taiwan by the Tin Chi Brassware Co. of Taipei. The China-Taiwan brass company designed and manufactured the lamp bases and brass accents as well as the glass. Tin Chi Brassware Co. was a major customer of Charles Sadek Import Company in New Rochelle, New York. The Charles Sadek Import Co. (J.Willifred) was founded by Charles and Norman Sadek in 1936. The Sadeks worked with foreign factories in all parts of the world to import hand-crafted bisque figurines, S & P shakers, dinnerware, tea and coffee sets and home decorations. The Sadek's inventory grew to a 3,000-item catalog of unique designs of home accessories. Charles and Norman had showrooms in Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas, New York as well as their headquarters in New Rochelle, NY. Charles had a son Jim, and a daughter named Andrea that would run the family business along with Norman Sadek. In 1975, Charles passed away, so Norman renamed the company to Andrea by Sadek making Charles's daughter the namesake and Jim and his wife Sandra the operational successors. In 2010, Norman passed away leaving Jim to sell Andrea by Sadek in 2015 to Fitz & Floyd of Dallas. Interesting enough, the Sadek's left the brands separate, and the Sadeks are well involved still with their brand of imports. Tin Chi Brassware Co. in Taiwan was defunct in 2011. This lamp is the "Pink Cat" not to be confused with the "Amber Cat". The difference is that the cat's fur of this Tin Chi is made of hand-blown frosted pink glass with opalescent spots for more appeal. The glass is crown ripple glass with selenium to turn pink and artisan in stature. The base and ornament are made of brass in which the base has a touch of verdigris that can be removed with baking soda and vinegar if wish to alter the patina. Tin Chi weighs 3 pounds and 8 ounces and works GREAT. The switch on the power cord has been replaced with the "splice and electrical tape" method and has been tested and presented NO safety hazards.
