Waterford Crystal Polyhedron Paperweight-GOLF

$25.00

  • Details
This beautiful paperweight is made by Waterford of Ireland between 2000-2005. It is a crystal triangular polyhedron (prism) design that was sculpted to display a holographic golf ball "teed up".
Waterford began as a glassworks furnace in Waterford, Ireland around 1783 by Uncle- George Penrose and Nephew-William Penrose. The Penrose family became renowned for their productions of extremely fine flint glass (lead glass). Unfortunately, the original Waterford furnace had to close in 1851. Over several years following the closure, ideas and debates took place to resurge the foundation of the Waterford glass and crystal making traditions in Ireland and in 1947 it was achieved with financial backing by a man named Bernard Fitzpatrick. With new cutting machines and skilled crystal workers, Waterford embarked on becoming one of the world's most recognized fine crystal manufactures. Primarily in Ireland, Waterford outsourced manufacturing in Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and even Germany to cut their artisan designs.
Waterford's crystal designs and patterns have been displayed in many of the world's most notable locations such as Westminster Abbey, Windsor Castle, The White House and Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Waterford crystal is also the manufacturer of the brilliant 2,688 crystal cut New Year's Eve Ball dropped every year in New York's Times Square. The masterpiece weighs 11,875 pounds and is 12 feet in diameter making it one of the largest crystal-glass cut creations in history. Since 2015, everything associated with Waterford glass and crystal has been acquired by the Fiskars Corporation of Finland.
This Waterford weighs 1 pound 2 ounces and measures 5.25" tall with 2.75" wide sides.
No cracks or chips (see photos) does not include original box. Original MSRP was $99
