This item is an antique personalized small kiss lock clutch bag made in 1913 New Orleans, LA. Made out of genuine leather and decorated by hot stamping flowers, the year, and the name of the person who originally purchased the clutch bag. Ball clasps or “kiss lock “ clasps are one of the earliest methods designed to secure a purse for women next to the reticule drawstring method. Kiss lock bags are still used today and is still associated with a vintage aesthetic for modern day accessories. The hot stamping of leather has been around for ages as a way to decorate and personalize all things leather. Hot stamping embeds monograms into leather in a process that makes the images last a lifetime. Hot stamping is widely used still in leather western wear, luggage, as well as purses and bags. A woven rope was used as a handle. This item has damage to the linings and is NOT a useable purse unless it is restored. MemoryLaneVintiques recommends this item as a display or conversation piece. Picked at estate sale in Richland Hills, Texas by MLV.
